A Little Help

I need recipes for a diet that will lower cholesterol. Preferably meals that my whole family will be willing to eat. Recipes for desserts and snacks would be helpful too. Or if any of you are a nutritionist or dietitian, we could use your help. Thanks!

Your Uncle Cam had to go on medication for this. And when he went back in, everything bad had come way down.

Red Yeast Rice capsules, available at Wal-Mart were suggested by one of the oncologists I work with. I don't know if that's what did the trick or not, but it can't hurt!

We put him on the Red Yeast Rice and fish oil. Plus exercise.I'm working on the diet part. The dr is giving him 2 months to get it down on his own before he puts him on meds. But thanks for the suggestion! Nice to hear from you.

Look for foods high in fiber and they will be low in saturated fat and cholesterol. A good dessert is a skinny cow ice cream sandwich.

Nathan tried taking niacin and fish oil for his high cholesterol, but after he had a really, REALLY bad reaction to the niacin, I practically marched him into the doctor's office to get his levels checked. They were not as bad as they used to be, but still way to high...so he is on meds. He has to go back in this month to get his levels checked again.

I think there is a book that is "heart smart" or something like that...I've heard that oatmeal does wonders...my hubby won't eat it, but maybe your's will.
